Regardless of what someone else may have told you about not needing an ITIN, we do need it. We are acting in compliance with the law and that is what is required of us.
Acquiring an ITIN does require some paperwork.
- Fill out the W7 form.
- Provide proof of ID (a certified or notarized copy of your ID)
- Regarding the 1(d) exception (because the majority of you have not had to deal with U.S. taxes before now): A signed letter or document from the withholding agent...
This "signed letter" is the email we sent you. That is what you can use - simply print it out.
Also many of you are saying you haven't received the email from us. If you haven't, you should soon.
Many of you are worried about timelines. We do have some flexibility and will work with you on this.
Also, please take a few moments and read this entire thread:

I'll do my best to answer your questions. We appreciate your patience and will work together to reach resolutions.
