Please post in this thread if you have any problems in using the forum, I will collect the information in the top post here for quick reference for "newbies" ;D
Things to that are good to know:
-If English is not your first language you might want to go to Profile>Account Related Settings>Preferred Language: to change the language for the forum (menu/ help files etc.)
-On top of each page is now a menu where you can change the display language directly, even without the need to register.
-If you have set your email to hidden it is still visible to you, but not to other forum members ;-)
-How to make a pretty url: Lets say you want to link to another post like this one http://photographicfreedom.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=41.0
If you just copy and paste it into your message it will be converted in a link, but it will look pretty ugly, but if you use something like the example below:
[url=http://photographicfreedom.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=41.0]Please present yourself here![/url]
will look like this Please present yourself here! (http://photographicfreedom.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=41.0) far prettier. If you want to use other bbcode for size and color, just wrap them around the text you want to have displayed, but please don't "SCREAM" at people with huge fontsize etc.

Next string only to test other ones:

No confidential info at all ;-) I was testing, earlier, possibilities of adding more smilies and forgot to reset something, sorry it was my mistake, thanks for pointing it out! SY

SY, what is hot-link? Sorry I'm not familiar with the term. Please, explain how can we show an image from SS and how we can not.

SY, what is hot-link? Sorry I'm not familiar with the term. Please, explain how can we show an image from SS and how we can not.
Hot linking is when you use code to make an image appear on one web site, but it is hosted on another. It is the opposite of uploading an image to a web site. Most of the images displayed on this, and other forums, are hot linked from stock sites. Most stock sites allow this (to promote themselves), but the problem can be that it puts a lot of strain on their servers and will be considered bandwidth theft if done without agreement of the hosting web site. OK, I see. But I still can post regular link, not an image, is that correct?

Correct, putting a link in is ok, just not displaying a Shutterstock image on this site until I know if I get a permission from them, SY

Sybille, don't know if you know about the issue, but the "Signature" option under the profile info management doesn't work (at least not for me). It allows only one character to be added and that's really not enough for a signature, is it? O0
-
That is correct so. SY
-
Update on this one, signatures are now allowed with max 300 characters, feed back please here ;-) SY ;D
-
Great, Sybille. Works perfectly, I think. Love the reduced size font;)

...Love the reduced size font;)
Actually you can increase the font size slightly (not more then 14pt, pretty please), for more information have a look here: Guide to Signatures (http://photographicfreedom.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=490.0) Hope that helps, SY
