Случайно прочитал, очень дельный текст про путь фотографа, увы на английском, но думаю смысл будет понятен даже тем, кто плохо владеет, очень простым языком написано:
Photography is a very big industry, it can be both commercial and artistic, and these two divisions are divided into more genres, such as fashion, portrait, landscape, wildlife, documentary and so on. Also, as photography nowadays is easily accessible to anyone it attracts more and more admirers each year. The reason for that is the development of digital technology and reasonable prices for SLR cameras. Now anyone can feel as a photographer. Yet, there is a huge difference between amateur and a professional photography.
As someone who's becoming closer to photography industry everyday (or at least I'd like to think so) I learned that taking the photograph is not just about pushing the button. Sometimes, though, it's about pushing the button at the right time, but most of the time it's about hard work, about learning the subject you are going to photograph, working with the light, working with the client (and the team if necessary) and achieving his expectations; depending on the final purpose of the photograph, it's also about leaning to see the object from the best side or from the side that is not visible to others.
But how do you know what to chose and how do you check if it's right?
At some point of our life we have to decide what we want or need to do. Our decision can depend on different aspects, depending on the ultimate goal in our life and our values. Also, depending on our abilities and talents. For example, a person who priorities the riches will most likely chose something that he will be repaid for. If we are talking about photography, then we are talking about commercial photography. On the other hand, a person who prefers spiritual world to the material, will most likely chose art photography, as in most parts of the world it's believed that art develops the best in us and in our soul.
For example, let's take fashion photography. A lot of people tend to think that it is no art. Yet my opinion on this subject is that fashion photographs can be amazing and create amazing pieces of art, though, with advertisement in it. But how do you come to the point of shooting fashion?
David la Chapelle says that in order to be successful in this field you have to be interested in it. And what does it take to become interested in it? Who is the average consumer of fashion photography? Girls and boys who want to become just like the people on the pictures. Most of us understand that fashion goes hand by hand with money. It's a glamorous genre of photography where indeed you have to think big to become big. It also has to be in a straight way, the client doesn't have to think why the photographer made it look like this, the message should be clear. As most of the things in our life it has its own target audience and its own circle. People from outside will most likely not get in, probably they won't even try to.
Another example, let's take fine art. It is true that an artist can earn more that other average photographer, depending on the luck, talent and the ability to work hard. But what is the purpose of this genre? Hidden meanings, messages to the audience that are not so easy to find at a first glance. So the person who choses this genre must understand his priorities.
So, to summarize what I said above, everyone has his own target and depending on that choses a circle of possibilities. Yet it doesn't mean that if you chose one you without any doubt become either famous or rich, or both. Exceptions can be everywhere and recognition and appreciation doesn't fall from the trees. The point is that the road to your main approach might be easier if you chose it right.
Просто от себя добавлю, что очень правильная мысль озвучена. Очень простая и правильная. Намного легче достичь цели, если правильно выбрать цель. Получаются офигенно пейзажи, жучки? Так зачем снимать голых теток? Тем более, если получается коряво? Некоторые вещи просто идут, сами собой, от души, а некоторые приходится буквально выдавливать. Получается унылое г...о.
Пост вызван уже третьей галерей работ за сегодняшний день, где люди занимаются какой-то фигней. Просто потрясающие пейзажи выходят у человека, а он лезет обнаженку снимать, причем выходит ну так коряво, что просто неудобно за человека, т.к. видно, что человек заинтересован не сделать классное фото, а просто раздеть модель. Опять же - на здоровье, у всех свои приколы, но выкладывать такие "шедевры" зачем? Просто противно.
А у другого тоже студийный свет, а на выходе.. блин у меня тестовые снимки с накамерными вспышками лучше. Зачем? Почувстовать себя крутым фотографом, раздеть девчонку в студии? Чессслово, будь девчонка хоть трижды мисс вселенная, если бы я хотел её раздеть, то вперед сделал бы классные фото, и только потом реализовывал свои фантазии, буде таковые будут.
Вот. Ещё, речь ни идет ни о ком, из присутствующих на форуме, в том смысле, что на галереи наткнулся, когда искал данные о моделях в гугле.
