Illustration / Re: What kind of illustrations do you make?

I didn't learn them all at once! Most fractal programs are similar under the packaging, and its easy to switch between them.
Mostly I search out tutorials and follow until I get the hang of things, also the library is great for 'How to' books.
I hate reading the manuals! So boring.
I was glad I learned Illustrator, it gave me a great grounding in using the pen tool that has been invaluable in Photoshop.
Zbrush is just plain fun. ;D
Do you use Chaoscope? It gives fractals that are very different to Apophysis.

What method are you using now? I know of three, all very different. :)

Talya, Its a great feeling when you see your portfolio and your sales growing.

I bought  a car last month, totally paid for with my photography earnings. Not all microstock, but a good part of it was. That made me very proud and happy.  ;D

Right, I changed my avatar to something more seasonal. ;D

We're walking in the air
We're floating in the moonlit sky
The people far below are sleeping as we fly

I'm holding very tight
I'm riding in the midnight blue
I'm finding I can fly so high above with you

Far across the world
The villages go by like dreams
The rivers and the hills
The forests and the streams

Children gaze open mouth
Taken by surprise
Nobody down below believes their eyes

We're surffing in the air
We're swimming in the frozen sky
We're drifting over icy
Mountain floating by

Suddenly swooping low on an ocean deep
Arousing of a mighty monster from its sleep

We're walking in the air
We're floating in the midnight sky
And everyone who sees us greets us as we fly

This one sells really well. I thought it would have limited use, but it is becoming one of my best sellers on a couple of sites.

I use Photoshop CS3. My lovely boss bought it because I do a lot of photography for the firm. It belongs to him, but is on my computer at home. This means I process the company  pictures in my own time, but its worth the trade off. I only do half a dozen pics a month for him. ;D

I had a spell about eighteen months ago when my illustrations were being rejected on a certain site, with the 'these are not stock' rejection. Within a few days of each rejection a VERY similar illustration was accepted on the site.
I had my suspicions, but could not prove that a reviewer was piching my ideas. I emailed the site with examples and asked if they would investigate, and the rejections stopped! They never confirmed it though, they never even replied to my email.
So, yes, there can be a conflict of interests. I strongly think that subbmitters should not also be reviewers. They should be seen to be unbiased.

They may be picky, but it is woth persevering. Sales are great, and increasing every month. Don't give up. They accept nearly all my illustrations if that is any help, and they sell well there too.

I have not had a sale since October 10th. This on a portfolio of 562 pictures, selling really well on most other sites. Lucky Oliver are all talk and no action as far as I am concerned.

I have very regular, reliable sales from Bigstock. They have been steadily increasing over the last few months.

I do see a little increase in downloads when I donate an image. I like that you can limit the time for an image to be free.

How about the other way round? A poll for which site you dislike the most.  ;D ;D
I know where my vote would go!

They are flying for me. I am selling lots of extra large files, and they keep the money rolling in. I have turned off email notification because they were clogging up my in box.
I don't get many extended licence sales there though.

I was in Yorkshire taking pictures from a cliff top. I stepped too close to the edge, slipped, and bounced halfway down the cliff on my bum, screaming so loud I strained my vocal chords. Luckily it was a part that was not a shear drop. I never let go of my camera, but held it up all the way! My husband had to get help to get me back up again. Not very dignified.
The bruising was fantastic. I didn't sit down properly for about two weeks.
