I am guessing that most people use Illustrator to create their Illustrations but what version?
Anyone on anything older than Version 8?
How about Freehand? are you still continuing with it? (Now adobe have discontinued it) or something from left field, maybe corel, or serif?

P.S. I use Illustrator CS3

Same here, CS3.
p.s.: And worked for some time a couple of years back on Corel 12, but mainly because of format compatibility issues.

Don't talk to me about Corel 12, I used to work in a artwork studio and because we didn't originate the artwork we had to cover all of the different formats that came in. Corel was a bit of a hot potato with everyone not wanting to use it so trying to pass it on but to be fair it was pretty much the same with Freehand.

i still use freehand :S
i like it, but i try to adapt cs3 since freehand doesnt have a future now :(
-
Illustrator isn't that scary a transition from Freehand, especially if you have used Photoshop. Adobe do offer quite a good guide to help you switch from Freehand to Illustrator on their website and a discount to upgrade to the latest version (CS3) :) but not to the Creative suite :(

;)) Here in Slovenia it (Corel) was widely popular in printing studios in the past and it does happen, believe me, that people in the "branch" still don't know what the heck is an Illustrator format. Less and less, but it still happens.
p.s.: "Please send it in Corel: Illustrator? Ah?" And my mind shuts down every time I hear that;)

As the old saying goes, it doesn't matter what software you use its how good an artist you are.
But when you only have illustrator and the customer send you a Corel file or even worse a Microsoft paint file!!!

;)) I dig you;)
