;)) I always thought LCF was a grown man with his own mustache, long beard and plenty of torso pubics firing off his lumberjack shirt;))

;)) Flesh and blood are always the same "down there" at iStock;)

p.s.: I forgot to mention the exhilarating upload procedure: one image at a time, beeeeaatiful;)

Postprocessing 10 images takes me at least one day of spare time, definitely not 45 minutes. Unless I just apply an adjustment layer of some sort, balance the thing.

Btw:
Old: 303
New: 499

;)) Lil, what about iStock "brainbullets" of the same type? Four checkboxes and than the almighty disambiguation plus the cute little categories. Those beautiful hours spent beside a gorgeous candle light just to wait for the day all the images get rejected. Ahh... life!;))

General discussion / Re: ShutterStock Pay Rise !?!
« : Февраля 26, 2008, 07:37:27 pm »
Can't wait the raise. I'm not able to relate this eventual raise with the past ones, but I surely hope it will be substantial. The 0.30 Dollars per download is relatively solid (the quantity of downloads on SS really is dreamy compared to other sites), but the value of the Dollar is catastrophic and economic analysts say it is NOT going to get any better (and we can hope for a stabilization only later this year (but definitely not a reversal of tendency). This alone is already a strong reason for the raise (don't forget all this companies only profit with the Dollar devaluation). On top of that we all know how the "most dangerous" competitor pumped their prices and the industry is surely going to follow (even if SS targets a somehow different audience with it's subscription model and at least until now looks on par (efficency-wise) with the credit system).

Btw, Sybille, how are the first two selling? I, honestly, love them.

« : Февраля 23, 2008, 06:57:50 pm »
;)) Neither do I, but a couple of weeks ago I used some "leftovers" from a session and vectorized the silhouettes. Well, they weren't really dancing at all, but since they looked "groovy", I popped in a few club keywords. You never know;)

p.s.: Btw, good job bringing the issue up. As you do, I really doubt those collections aren't photo traces, even if the whole-body ones do look a bit "animeish" (long lengs, cartoonish poses). Extending the debate to objects silhouettes the thing gets more complicated (and there are some artists that do look like they have hardware stores, fashion outlets, pet hotels, nude crowds and computer/electronic departments right in their cosy homes);)

Innocent unless proven, right? I'm definitely not jumping in with those people traces of photos taken from other artists, but the "authorities" still have to have the proof that those really are photo traces. There are many artists out there that can draw perfect people silhouettes with an obsolete pencil, on top of that those (the thousand-pack thingy) could easily be traces of snapshots of low quality (actually a plan to do a snapshot photosession of silhouettes only in the future). The important thing is, I think, to add model releases even if the faces are obviously not recognizable.

p.s.: This is volatile territory, btw. With vector traces you can modify silhouettes ad infinitum. Scale the hip paths, flip a few arms, merge in a different hairstyle and noone will ever manage to lay charges on you.
p.p.s.: But you're right, morally the discussion goes beyond mere illustrations, traces or what-have-you.

Off topic / Re: What music do you listen to when creating your master piece?
« : Февраля 21, 2008, 04:51:14 pm »
It all depends on the moods, sometimes I opt for female vocals-driven soft rock or usual hard rock, sometimes instrumental easygoing rock, other times metal/rock with electronic elements, or choose pure "power" feelings of indie (and not) (metal) hardcore. It also falls under the category "random" of my playlist shuffles.

An example (that happens to be a drop in the ocean since I'm quite of an album collectionist) yesterday for the image below: started with Queens of the Stone Age, continued with Susie Suh, than jumped to The Devil Wears Prada, than Subsonica and finished with The fall of Troy. At least these are those that I remember of... and they might even not have been the mentioned succession.

p.s.: I confess I'm addicted to alt-tabing to Winamp constantly;) And it also happens that I "forget" listening to music altogether (that is usually accompanied by the "damn, I'm missing something feeling").

General discussion / Re: Monthly earning poll on 123RF
« : Февраля 21, 2008, 02:38:00 pm »
Btw, I'm pretty sure I'm going to pierce the 50$ a month barrier. Right now I'm at 40.

p.s.: Relatively low, but I always thought I'd get a payout (self-chosen at 100$) around a quarterly interval. I was wrong. To say the truth I don't know what "low" is on this site and that's exactly the reason why I started the poll.

I've been eager to get a community-wide insight in the earnings scheme of 123RF for quite some time. I know it's a small-player site and the income stats aren't comparable to the bigger ones, but I'm beginning to feel constant raises in downloads.

Is it the same for you?

I don't like the way thay protect the images on zymmetrical;/ The watermarks are too small (on both the smaller and bigger flash previews).

p.s.: If I may ask, NM, how much did you earn in these two weeks?
