Btw, I'm beginning to feel how Shutterstock reacts to slow uploads. The last week I uploaded only a couple of new files and the downloads were affected for as much as 50% (considering fluctuations).

50% more or 50% less?

DNF, 50% less per day than "usually" (I am well aware that by being a "newcomer" I can't draw objective conclusions based on my stats, btw). From the middle of January I was getting constant DLs of 100 up to 140, but when I slowed down with my submissions due to time constraints last week (in other words: no new uploads), my DLs per day dropped to around 80-90 a day (with the lower weekend sales as well (usually 50-60, this weekend 30/day).
p.s.: Can't complain, still great, but the euphoria of "supersales" (relative to my quality, of course) on Shutterstock spoils the ego profoundly, very much so;) I will have to get back to my usual submission-per-day number as soon as possible. I have a feeling that if I was not to upload for let's say a month, the consequences would be catastrophic.
p.p.s.: Other microstock sites don't have such a quick stats-response. That's the beauty of Shutterstock: it rewards steadiness.
p.p.p.s.: Btw, DNF, congrats for the being on the first page of 123RF;)

thanks dom,
We are happy when we have a few days of 30 dl's.
We upload 5 a time, as soon as 5 are inspected we send the next 5 and keep a steady flow that way. But if I get you correctly you get bigger dl's with bigger uploads?
